At TIPS journal club meeting held on February 04, 2019, the topic of “Mesoporous materials as drug delivery systems” was presented by Dr. Bakhtiari. A brief summary of this presentation is in below.
Mesoporous materials are intended for both systemic‐delivery systems and implantable local‐delivery devices. The latter application provides very promising possibilities in the field of bone‐tissue repair because of the excellent behaviour of these materials as bioceramics. The speaker discussed the advances in this field by the control of the textural parameters, surface functionalization, and the synthesis of stimuli‐response systems.
