Journal Club of the week: Oxidative stress in the cancer

Today’s journal club which held on 2015/06/22, was about the role of oxidative stress in the cancer. The speaker was Tina Didari who explained the dual effects of free radicals in promoting and progress of tumor cells. The role of different signal transduction second messengers was described and the future of drug discovery in that area was discussed. The audience reached the conclusion that further discussions about benefit of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TINIBS) is needed. Also, dual controversial effects of antioxidants in the cancer were pointed out. The importance of the advanced cell based drug delivery in the future of cancer chemotherapy was emphasized.
